Cambridge Foundation Selects 2009 Scholarship Recipient

Sun November 1, 2009

The Cambridge Educational Foundation is proud to announce that James Finnegan is the 2009 Cambridge Foundation Scholarship recipient.  James is a graduate of Warren Hills Regional High School in Washington, N.J.  He is currently a freshman at St. John’s University, in Queens, N.Y., where he is pursuing a double major in History and Accounting.

In accepting this scholarship, James wrote:

Earning admittance to a university is quite a comprehensive process. While solid grades and natural intellect provide a springboard for an application, personality and character swing the decision one way or another. With the help of Cambridge Educational Services, I earned a SAT score that placed me in good standing among competitive universities. My commitment to service (I participated in post-Katrina relief efforts in New Orleans, inner city tutoring for children in the Bronx, NY, and taught English at a summer program in rural Mexico) and demonstration of leadership ability (I served as my high school’s key club president) marked me as an individual among thousands of applicants. With regards to St. John’s, attributes of character ranked equally with a strong academic background. Values, in addition to numbers, tell the whole story of the applicant.

Cambridge congratulates James Finnegan as the 2009 recipient of this scholarship award.
