ACT Information and Test Dates The ACT (American College Testing Assessment) is a standardized test used for college entrance. Some schools require the SAT, while others require the ACT. Much like the SAT, the ACT compares the preparation and ability of college applicants from different backgrounds and helps to predict first-year college academic performance. The ACT is a multiple-choice format and is made up of subject tests: English, Mathematics, Reading and Science Reasoning. Each is scored on a scale of 1 to 36. These are averaged to arrive at a "composite score" which also ranges for 1 to 36. That score is then manipulated to come up with a scaled ACT score. The ACT is offered five times a year. To find out more information about the ACT, call (319) 337-1270. The testing schedule and registration deadlines are provided below. You can register online for the test at the ACT website.
